Four men from the Champaign area have been arrested on charges of possession of a machine gun… and federal prosecutors believe at least three of them are linked to actual or attempted bombings.
The men, ranging in age from 18 to 47, are from the town of Clarence, about 35 miles north of Champaign-Urbana. In addition to the machine gun charge, a federal affidavit says investigators have tied three of the men to the bombing of a mosque in Minnesota and an attempted bombing of a women’s clinic in Champaign.
Multiple agencies are involved and authorities say the investigation is continuing.
