“Safety Net” Hospitals Get Lifeline

So-called “safety net” hospitals in Illinois are getting a lifeline of their own. Governor Bruce Rauner has signed a bipartisan bill updating the Hospital Assessment Program… which sets Medicaid reimbursement rates for hospitals and opens the door for federal matching funds.

The “safety nets”… which rely predominantly on Medicaid funding to cover their costs… said the old formula was outdated.

The update ensures those hospitals… including Springfield’s Lincoln Prairie Behavioral Health Center… can continue to provide those services.
