Comptroller Susana Mendoza is opening up a new front in her ongoing battle with Governor Bruce Rauner. Mendoza is proposing what she calls the “Truth in Hiring Act,” which would require employees of the governor’s office to be paid out of the governor’s budget.
Mendoza says the practice… known as offshoring… has been done by every recent governor, of both parties, but says it’s always wrong.
She says more than half of Rauner’s employees are paid for out of the budgets of agencies like Human Services, State Police, or DCFS.
