House Speaker Mike Madigan is sending a warning to Democratic representatives… hands off the staff.
Madigan sent a memo to his caucus, days after outlining a list of harassment complaints made by staffers, including several that accused unnamed lawmakers of inappropriate conduct.
Madigan says the dynamic between lawmakers and staff is, quote, “ripe for potential harassment.” The Speaker says relationships between lawmakers and staff should remain “strictly professional,” and Madigan says if he becomes aware of future complaints against lawmakers, he will “personally get involved to put an end to it.”
