Illinois House Approves Bill to Ban Bump Stocks

The Illinois House has approved a bill to ban bump stocks and similar devices that increase the rate of fire on semiautomatic weapons. The vote was 83 to 31.

Opponents say the bill is vague and could criminalize antique guns or common devices that can be used to increase firing rates.

But supporters say there is no reason for Illinoisans to be able to obtain the type of device that was used in last year’s Las Vegas slaughter.
