Madigan Releases Some Details On Harassment Complaints

As he tries to defuse the controversy over his handling of harassment complaints against top lieutenants, House Speaker Mike Madigan has released a list of nine complaints made over the past five years about House Democratic lawmakers or staffers.

The list outlines the nature of the nine complaints and how they were handled, but does not identify any of the people involved. Madigan has sent the list to the other legislative leaders and suggested they make similar disclosures about their caucuses.

The speaker says his list shows that misconduct won’t be tolerated… and he repeated his insistence that he will not resign over the controversy.
