Some classes at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign are canceled, and students are staying away from others in solidarity with graduate students who are on picket lines in a dispute over their compensation.
The grad students… many of whom work as teaching assistants… walked off the job after negotiations failed to resolve a dispute over tuition waivers and other benefits.
The walkout only affects the Urbana campus and is not disrupting classes at the University of Illinois Springfield.
