Three top Democratic women say their panel studying sexual harassment in Illinois politics and other workplaces must be completely independent of the state party.
Congresswoman Cheri Bustos, Comptroller Susana Mendoza, and State Representative Carol Ammons will head up the panel, which will also look at increasing leadership opportunities for women in the Illinois Democratic Party.
In a letter to party leaders, the three say their group must be independent of any oversight from the state Democratic party… and say they will establish an independent funding mechanism, separate from the party, to hire their own staff to develop recommendations.
