The Sangamon County Coroner has identified the victim of an early-morning homicide in Springfield… but isn’t releasing many details about how the man died.
19-year-old Dohndre Hughes was discovered by police who responded to a home invasion call in the 1900 block of East Jackson around 12:30 Friday morning. He died a short time later at HSHS St. John’s Hospital.
Coroner Cinda Edwards says Hughes sustained a fatal injury, but won’t elaborate on the type of injury or how it was inflicted while the investigation continues. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crime to contact Springfield police or Crimestoppers.
