One day after dropping out of a Downstate debate because of a back injury, Democratic governor candidate Chris Kennedy is facing more problems in deep Southern Illinois.
Kennedy is under fire for comments he made about the school system in Cairo. He said that zero-percent of students there are college-ready and 75-percent need remedial education. But students and teachers there dispute that, and say many of those kids are college-bound and doing well.
Kennedy says his comments were based on SAT data… but the Illinois Federation of Teachers says students are whole people, not just test scores.
