Rauner Continues to Take Heat for Handling Of Legionnaires Outbreak at Veterans Home

Illinois lawmakers are expressing frustration over the pace of action to address the Legionnaires Disease crisis at the veterans home in Quincy.

Rauner administration officials did not attend a hastily-called legislative hearing Tuesday to look into a 2016 report that recommended replacing the plumbing at the Quincy home, a report that was not acted upon.

Some lawmakers defend the governor’s office, saying the hearing was called with less than 48 hours’ notice. But others say there is no more time to wait for answers and action on an outbreak that continues to sicken elderly residents of the home.
