Legionella bacteria has now shown up in the Springfield office of the Illinois Comptroller.
The comptroller’s office had the water tested after the bacteria was found in the nearby Capitol Complex. Although it’s not part of the complex, the office at 325 West Adams did produce positive samples for Legionella in the hot water supply inlet and outlet.
A statement says there is no sign of Legionella in any fixtures used by occupants of the office, and no indication that anyone who works there is at risk. The office says it will take immediate steps, including flushing the entire water system.
