Springfield’s first medical marijuana dispensary is about to mark its two-year anniversary amid big changes in the industry.
Chris Stone of HCI Alternatives says medical cannabis businesses in Illinois are surviving… not necessarily thriving… as they deal with state efforts to limit what conditions can be treated by the drug, and uncertainty about its future when the current pilot program expires.
But Stone says more patients and doctors see cannabis as an important alternative to highly-addictive opioids.
