The new public-private partnership for economic development in Sangamon County could be over before it even gets started.
Sangamon County officials say the effort might be abandoned if the City of Springfield doesn’t put some funding for the initiative in its upcoming new budget. Mayor Jim Langfelder has resisted the idea, but county administrator Brian McFadden says all ten aldermen support the effort.
McFadden says he’s not sure it makes sense to invest thousands of dollars in the project unless the city gets on board.
