State Challenges Ruling Allowing Medical Marijuana To Treat Severe Pain

State public health officials are fighting a court ruling to add “intractable pain” to the list of conditions that can be treated with medical marijuana.

A judge ordered that addition to the list… rejecting the state’s contention that there were not enough studies to support it. But now Illinois is appealing that ruling.

An Illinois woman with osteoarthritis brought the initial complaint. She says Illinois is forcing her to use dangerous opioids instead of a safer alternative.
