Monday is Lincoln’s Birthday… but it’s the presidential library and museum that’s getting the gifts. The institution is showing off two new donations.
One is a rare angry letter written by Lincoln and directed toward a friend and political ally who was thinking about breaking ranks with Lincoln on a political issue. The letter had been handed down by descendants of Lincoln’s friend for decades before they decided to donate it to the presidential library and museum.
The ALPLM has also received a painting depicting a young Abe Lincoln. That painting dates back to the late 1800s and will hang in the presidential library for the rest of the year.
