Democratic candidate for governor J.B. Pritzker is still dealing with the fallout from the latest leaked recording of wiretapped conversations between him and then-Governor Rod Blagojevich.
On that recording, Pritzker is heard discussing whether an African-American would have to be appointed to a political vacancy and calling Secretary of State Jesse White the “least offensive” option.
Pritzker has apologized for the comments, but a paid campaign staffer has resigned in protest, and Governor Bruce Rauner calls the comments “disrespectful.”
But a prominent black politician Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle is endorsing Pritzker, saying he has a long track record of supporting the African-American community.
