U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth is returning fire after President Trump suggested Democrats were “un-American” and perhaps even “treasonous” for not standing and applauding him during last week’s State of the Union address.
In a tweet, Duckworth… a wounded combat veteran… says she doesn’t live in a dictatorship or a monarchy.
Duckworth says she swore an oath to the Constitution, not to the whims of… quote… “Cadet Bone Spurs,” a reference to the medical condition that led to one of Trump’s draft deferments during the Vietnam War.
We don't live in a dictatorship or a monarchy. I swore an oath—in the military and in the Senate—to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, not to mindlessly cater to the whims of Cadet Bone Spurs and clap when he demands I clap https://t.co/99gW1yalDl
