
With the start of Black History Month, the Illinois Department of Human Rights is urging communities around the state to make a commitment to principles of fairness, equality and non-discrimination.
The department is seeking 200 communities to sign on to the effort… a number that corresponds to Illinois’s Bicentennial year.
Springfield is one of the first cities to get on board. Mayor Jim Langfelder says the city is embracing those principles… and doing so in a way that is not “divisive.”
