New SIU Chancellor Under Fire for Daughter and Son-in-Law Hirings

Even as Southern Illinois University in Carbondale makes cuts to university programs, the student newspaper on campus has revealed that the newly-hired chancellor has been able to bring his daughter and son-in-law onto the university payroll in positions created just for them.

SIU officials say the arrangement was part of the deal to attract Carlo Montemagno to come to the school… but critics question whether the arrangement complies with hiring and ethics laws.
