Governor Bruce Rauner is calling for bipartisan cooperation… but also taking a few political potshots… in his annual State of the State speech.
Rauner urged lawmakers to work with him on areas of agreement, like property tax reform. He then called for a law banning lawmakers from acting as property tax appeals lawyers… a direct shot at House Speaker Mike Madigan.
In the speech, heard live on WMAY, Rauner also pledged that he would deliver a balanced budget proposal in two weeks, a claim greeted with a mix of enthusiasm and skepticism.
