One of Governor Bruce Rauner’s appointees has resigned after incendiary remarks on social media. Blair Garber is stepping down from his post on the Illinois Lottery Control Board, a seat to which he was appointed by Rauner in 2016.
He came under fire for Twitter remarks in which he disparaged East St. Louis using the same vulgar term that President Trump reportedly used to describe African nations.
Rich Miller’s Capitol Fax reports that Garber also claimed on Twitter that serial killers and mass murderers are all Democrats. The governor’s office says there is no place in our discourse for that kind of rhetoric.
