Flu activity remains widespread in Illinois. The latest numbers from the state Department of Public Health show more than five-percent of outpatient visits to a doctor last week were for flu symptoms… and 135 people around the state wound up in intensive care last week for treatment of the flu.
Most of the hospitalized patients are 65 and older, but baby boomers between the ages of 50 and 65 are the second-most hospitalized group. Two children have died of the flu in Illinois so far this season.
