
Springfield’s city budget director is expressing frustration with the city’s budget plight… and some of the ideas being suggested to fix it.
Bill McCarty tells WMAY’s Ray Lytle Morning Show that an $11 million budget gap is mainly the result of factors outside the city’s control… like shrinking sales tax revenues and less assistance from the state.
And he says people who are demanding more cuts to the budget are really calling for reductions in police and fire protection and public works… the biggest line items in the budget.
