Illinois public health officials are asking Jimmy John’s restaurants to voluntarily stop serving sprouts at their stores temporarily after the produce was linked to a salmonella outbreak.
The outbreak has affected people in several states, including two known cases in Illinois, although the Department of Public Health didn’t specify where the Illinois patients may have become infected.
Symptoms of salmonella poisoning usually turn up 6 to 72 hours after contact… and the illness will usually resolve itself without treatment other than drinking fluids to stay hydrated.
