Illinois’s Unemployment Rate at 4.8%

Illinois’s unemployment rate is down slightly as job growth picks up a bit of steam. State figures put the statewide jobless rate in December at 4.8%, down one-tenth of one-percent.

Over the past 12 months, Illinois has added nearly 30,000 jobs, with the biggest gains in the financial sector and manufacturing.

In December, the most new jobs were in the government sector… with 41-hundred new positions filled.
