Mendoza Questions Rauner Once Again

There’s a new skirmish in the ongoing battle between Comptroller Susana Mendoza and Governor Bruce Rauner. Mendoza wants an independent review of an emergency contract that would pay a consultant $100,000 a day to continue work on technology upgrades for the Illinois Toll Highway Authority.

State officials say the 90-day, $9 million contract is needed because the initial round of funding has been depleted, but the work isn’t complete.

Mendoza says failing to properly estimate costs is not an emergency… but she contends it’s part of a pattern of waste and cost overruns by the Rauner administration.
