UIS Student Union Officially Opens

The University of Illinois Springfield enters a new phase of its development with Sunday’s grand opening of the new student union.

The $21 million building is envisioned as a central gathering spot and social hub for the UIS student body. Its features include a coffee shop and a ballroom.

University of Illinois president Timothy Killeen and Springfield Mayor Jim Langfelder were on hand for the opening.
