Rauner Supports Medicaid Work Requirement

Governor Bruce Rauner says he favors requiring able-bodied Medicaid recipients to work in order to receive benefits.

New federal rules allow states to impose that work requirement. But Rauner is indicating that pursuing that policy change won’t be an immediate priority.

The governor says first, Illinois needs more jobs so that there are enough available for everyone, including Medicaid recipients.
