UIS To Open First-Ever Student Union This Weekend

The University of Illinois Springfield has come a long way from its humble beginnings… and the school takes another step forward this weekend. Sunday, UIS will cut the ribbon on its first-ever student union.

The 50,000-square foot, $21 million building is designed to be a social hub for students on the growing campus. It will include a coffee shop, ballroom, and student leadership center.

Springfield Mayor Jim Langfelder and University of Illinois President Timothy Killeen will be on hand for Sunday’s event.
