ISBE: Rauner’s Amendatory Veto May Cause Funding Disruption

The State Board of Education says Governor Bruce Rauner’s amendatory veto of legislation related to school funding reform threatens to cause disruption and confusion for school districts across the state.

A statement from the board says the legislation was needed to correct a “drafting error” in the original funding reform bill and ensure that all districts get the funding to which they are entitled.

The statement says Rauner issued that veto “on the last possible day,” and warns that if the legislation’s provisions are not enacted quickly, dozens of districts will see funding reductions.
