Candidates Withdrawing From Races Prior to March Primaries

Several candidates in the March primary could be removed from the ballot in the days ahead because of challenges to their petitions. But some candidates who filed to get on the ballot are now deciding for themselves to get out of the race.

Jenica Myers-Hopkins is withdrawing from the Democratic primary in the 99th House District, leaving retired State Police master sergeant Marc Bell unopposed in that race.

And state senator Michael Hastings is ending his Democratic primary challenge against Secretary of State Jesse White.

Hastings said he entered the race in case White changed his mind about seeking a sixth term. Since White is staying in, Hastings is getting out and will be named an “honorary co-chair” of White’s campaign.
