
State officials are still defending the six-day lag from the time they became aware of an outbreak of Legionnaires Disease at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, and the time they notified residents, family members and the public.
The directors of Veterans Affairs and Public Health both say they needed that time to evaluate the situation and make sure they were putting out accurate information.
During the hearing, some lawmakers expressed support for building an entirely new facility on the Veterans Home site in Quincy.
