SMTD To Start New Downtown Shuttle Bus Service Monday

Springfield’s new downtown shuttle bus service will begin Monday.

The Sangamon Mass Transit District says the so-called “circulator service” will run on a constant loop, with stops in close proximity to the Capitol, the Old State Capitol, the BOS Center, City Hall and the County Building, the State Museum and more.

The service will run on a 20-minute schedule for most of the day but will depart every ten minutes at lunchtime from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. SMTD says it will use savings from efficiencies on other routes to pay for the new service.
