Additional money for Illinois school districts is up in the air after Governor Bruce Rauner issued an amendatory veto of a follow-up bill needed to implement last year’s school funding reform deal.
Rauner wants a private school scholarship fund program expanded to include private and parochial schools that have applied for state certification in the program, not just those that have already received it.
State Senator Andy Manar is angry about the move, noting that Rauner’s administration requested the follow-up bill and saying that the change will delay getting new dollars to schools.
