The woman who accused an Illinois lawmaker of sexually harassing her… and then decided to run for the legislature herself… is ending her candidacy.
Denise Rotheimer submitted petitions to run as a Republican for the Illinois House earlier this month. But she now says in a social media statement that she’s been overwhelmed by the reaction to her decision to go public with her accusations against Democratic state Senator Ira Silverstein.
Rotheimer says she will continue to pursue that complaint and look for other ways to make a meaningful contribution.
