Illinois Signs Onto Broadband-Based Network for First Responders

Illinois has signed on to a broadband-based communications network for first responders… getting in just ahead of a December 28th deadline.

The FirstNet network is a partnership with multiple states and AT&T, and is operated at no additional expense to taxpayers.

It’s intended to solve the snafus that have happened in the past during large scale emergencies like 9/11, when communications networks became clogged with heavy traffic.
