The U.S. Attorney’s office in Springfield is getting an additional federal prosecutor to focus on combatting violent crime.
It’s part of a nationwide push to beef up the federal response against violent criminal activity.
A total of 40 new positions are being created nationwide, including the one in Springfield and three in the Chicago area.
