Faculty and staff at the St. John’s College of Nursing have undergone training in how to stop potentially fatal bleeding before a victim arrives at the hospital.
St. John’s officials say the “Stop the Bleed” training provides essential information on how to prevent death in the event of a serious trauma. An injured person can bleed to death in under five minutes.
The training, which can be used by someone on the scene before emergency personnel arrives was inspired in part by recent tragedies like the mass shooting in Las Vegas.
