Authorities have made an arrest in connection with Tuesday’s aggravated battery of a 70-year-old on Springfield’s east side.
27-year-old Andrew J. Brady of the 2200 block of South 12th Street was arrested in Decatur on an aggravated battery warrant by the United States Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force. Brady was then transported to the Sangamon County Jail.
Police continue to investigate the crime for a motive.

Springfield police are continuing their investigation of an attack on a 70-year-old man on the city’s east side Tuesday.
The victim was found near 12th and Melrose. Police say he had stopped near that intersection and was attacked by a white male who pulled up in another vehicle. The attacker then got back in his car and fled. There’s no word yet on a motive.
The victim is being treated for possible life-threatening injuries.
