So far, Springfield has dodged the major flu outbreaks affecting communities like Litchfield or Taylorville.
But there are at least anecdotal reports of clusters of flu locally.
Sangamon County Public Health Director Jim Stone says it’s not too late to get a flu shot, even though it will take a couple of weeks to reach full effectiveness.
In the meantime, good hygiene especially frequent hand-washing is still your best defense against the bug.
