The gloves are coming off as Governor Bruce Rauner is already on the attack against a possible Democratic opponent in 2018. Rauner is blasting J.B. Pritzker for a lack of transparency in releasing tax information… and accuses Pritzker of choosing to stash money in offshore accounts.
Rauner acknowledges that some of his own investments may be in offshore banks… but he says that his assets are in a blind trust and he has no control over those decisions.
The Pritzker campaign says Pritzker’s trusts paid tens of millions of dollars in taxes last year. [UPDATE: The campaign says information about the trusts is available through the statement of economic interest that Pritzker has filed with the state.]
