A yearlong birthday celebration kicks off this weekend in Springfield. Sunday marks the 199th anniversary of Illinois statehood, and the official beginning of a year’s worth of events to mark the state’s Bicentennial.
Some special commemorations will be announced during Sunday’s special event, including an announcement of the name of the state’s official Bicentennial beer, produced by Hand of Fate Brewing in Petersburg… and special Bicentennial programming produced by Mid-West Family Broadcasting.
In addition, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum will offer free admission all day this Sunday to mark the occasion.
