It was a very busy Thanksgiving weekend for Illinois State Police. The department reports that it made nearly 7,000 traffic stops over the long holiday weekend… and issued almost 57-hundred citations.
Most of those were for speeding, but the department also made 89 DUI arrests and wrote 81 tickets for distracted driving.
Ten people died in traffic crashes around Illinois over the extended travel period… one fewer than a year ago.
