The Sangamon Mass Transit District plans to offer a new service shuttling people around the downtown area.
The shuttle would run a circular route every 20 minutes… increasing to every 10 minutes during the lunch period from 11:30 to 1:30pm.
The new service will start in early January. SMTD says by taking advantage of changes to make other routes more efficient, it can add the new service at no additional cost.
SMTD says more route changes and improvements are planned for next year to coincide with the agency’s 50th anniversary.
