Proposed changes at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale are causing a stir on the campus.
To save money, the restructuring would eliminate all academic departments at the school… along with the position of department chair. The school would then be restructured under five colleges, including a College of Business, a College of Health and Human Services, and a College of Social Sciences, Humanities, Media and Arts.
Some faculty are objecting to the changes, but the chancellor says no one has offered a better alternative.
