Expect much tighter security at high school basketball games in Springfield from now on.
District 186 says it will conduct wanding and bag searches for all spectators at boys’ varsity games. The move follows a multiple stabbing incident after an alumni basketball game at Lanphier High earlier this month.
In addition to the searches, people will no longer be admitted into games after the start of the 3rd quarter. The district is advising fans to arrive earlier to games, because the new security procedures will slow down entry.
