Central Illinois has a new interim U.S. Attorney.
52-year-old John Childress has been named to the post, replacing Patrick Hansen, who had been serving as the acting U.S. Attorney since last December. The appointment is in place for 120 days.
Childress had been the chief of the office’s criminal division and served as the local representative on the Joint Terrorism Task Force. He’s also an Iraq War veteran and a former Sangamon County associate judge.
